The Horsfall Creative Agents

Do you want to help 42nd Street shape the direction of our creative programme and venue, The Horsfall? This is an exciting time to get involved. Creative Agent are:

♦ 16 years old or above;

♦ Interested in the arts / heritage;

What is involved?

Creative Agents meet weekly as a group. Sessions include practical workshops and research trips to galleries, theatre, heritage sites.  In June 2017 we had a zine making workshop with the Centre for Chinese Contemporary Art, who came along to talk to us about their new youth programme. On 31st August 2017 we’ll be going to HOME for a mindful writing workshop. Check out our Summer/Autumn 2017 programme below.

When?

Every Monday, with other Horsfall events and activities programmed across the year.

Every Monday between 5-6:30pm at The Horsfall, 42nd Street.

Winter/Spring Programme 2018

Monday 8th January 5-6.30pm (at The Horsfall)

Visit from Craig Easton re: 16 Photography Project.

Thursday 11th January 5-8pm (at The People’s History Museum)

Visit to The People’s History Museum for radical late event. We will have a tour of the current exhibitions, meet the curator, look at collections relating to the Peterloo Massacre and start to develop our ideas for the exhibition taking place in the summer.

Dates to note: 14th April, deadline for making an exhibition artwork. 2nd June, exhibition opens.

Monday 15th January 5-6.30pm (Visit to Manchester Craft and Design Centre)

Visit to Manchester Craft and Design Centre to meet staff and some makers, begin to develop ideas for the exhibition project.

Monday 22nd January , 5-6.30pm (The Horsfall)

Follow up session to develop ideas for the forthcoming Manchester Craft and Design Centre project, including writing of artist brief.

Visit from Sarah from Oldham Coliseum to begin devising story for production on the theme of Home.

Monday 12th Feb, 5-6.30pm (at The Horsfall)

Working with Sarah from Oldham Coliseum to begin devising story for production on the theme of Home.

Visit from Sarah from Oldham Coliseum to begin devising story for production on the theme of Home.

Tuesday 19th April 6pm – 10pm (at Oldham Coliseum)

Group performance at Oldham Coliseum exploring the theme of HOME. The Creative Agents have been working with Oldham Coliseum to think about what home means to us, what it feels like, how we belong, how we carve our own space in the world. This is a public performance, and will be performed alongside other short pieces written with communities across Greater Manchester.

Thursday 24th May (time TBC)

We are working with Manchester Craft and Design Centre to curate an exhibition of young craft makers. On Thursday 24th May, we will open the exhibition with an event created by the Creative Agents. The event will offer a fun and relaxed opportunity to see some contemporary craft, made and selected by young people. Everyone is welcome. Please feel free to invite friends and family. Refreshments provided.

This exhibition will be only display at the Manchester Craft and Design Centre until September 2018.

Saturday 2nd June (time TBC)

Opening of the Represent! Exhibition at the People’s History Museum, a celebration of under-represented voices from across Greater Manchester, our Creative Agents will be presenting a piece in the exhibition which will run in the main gallery into 2019. Further details of the event will be published nearer the time.
