42nd Street is a charity based in Manchester that supports young people under stress. We have been helping young people for 35 years and pride ourselves on offering a personalised and professional service that includes a range of opportunities to meet the diverse needs of young people aged 11-25 years old. Our approaches include one-to-one counselling and therapy, group work, a Helpline and a creative programme and thanks to the kind donations made in Kieran’s memory we have been able to add another strand to our delivery-Kieran’s Getaways; now more young people can receive the much needed help they need to live happier lives.
What are Kieran’s Getaways?
Kieran’s Getaways have been developed with and for young people accessing 42nd Street to give them the opportunity to experience something new; to be inspired to recognise how their life experiences and skills can be translated into something really positive for the future whilst also giving them the space we all need sometimes to recharge and reflect. This approach is something Kieran’s family feel Kieran would have approved of.
So far your generosity has enabled 42nd Street to support over 40 young people on Kieran’s Getaways. Getaways have included:
With more planned…
Your donations have also enabled us to refresh our website and develop our marketing materials and from September 2015 we will be delivering a service at Chorlton High School, match funded by the school. This service will include:
We couldn’t do any of this work without your support, so can we take this final opportunity on behalf of the staff team at 42nd Street and the young people who access our service to thank you again for your generosity.
“It was awesome because I challenged my fears and it gave me a chance to get away from problems and school…the staff encouraged us to be fearless…the activity I most enjoyed was the zip wire and high swing…I challenged my fear of heights which I thought I could never ever achieve.”
With special thanks to Kieran’s family for all their support and for continuing to see raising funds for 42nd street as fitting tribute to Kieran.
You can sign up as a supporter on our website, whether you are a young person, a parent, a community member or a professional; we are keen to build up a network of “Friends of 42”, to help us to communicate our work, take up volunteer opportunities, fundraise and donate.
Enjoy Kieran Fest 2015!
