42nd Street provides a range of services to young people including:
- Mental health needs assessment;
- Counselling & therapy
- Individual community mental health support;
- Group work;
- Drop-ins;
- A helpline;
- Youth work activities;
- ParticipationĀ opportunities for young people using the service;
- A national online question and answer service for young people affected by self-harm delivered through TheSite.org
We also have a number of inclusion projects:
The Disabled Young People’s Project which offers:
- Individual support with a specialist worker
- Creative group work and activities
Inside Out which offers:
- Support to young people from Manchester who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans or questioning their sexuality
- Advice, individual support and occasional groups are provided.
42nd Street also works in partnership with the Tameside and Glossop Young People’s Mental Health Team which provides a service for young people 16 – 19 who are experiencing significant disruption in their lives as a result of their mental health needs. Contact 0161 604 3377 for more information.
Last year 42nd Street:
- Delivered individual community mental health support and counselling to 600+ young people
- Offered 5300+ individual support and counselling sessions
- Delivered 28 long and short term group work programmes to 350+ young people
- Delivered 12 outreach mental health promotion group sessions to 84 young people
- Provided 139 diverse volunteering opportunities to young people
- Provided individual support, counselling and group work in 10 schools, colleges and Pupil Referral Units
- Provided expert answers to 184 online questions on self-harm from young people, parents and carers
- Delivered 33 training sessions to 555 professionals on a broad range of topics related to young people and mental health
- Worked with 8 diverse groups of young people to develop 2 multi-media exhibitions on emotional and mental health related themes
