Richard Hawkins

Hello I’m Richard, I accessed support at 42nd Street in 2006, having experienced mental illness myself from a young age, I received support which helped me resolve many of my difficulties during this time, for that I am very thankful.

I was involved with the co-production group, working alongside 42nd Street and the department of social care and social work at Manchester Metropolitan University; I continue to do this work independently.  I am a regional manager for the charity Street Soccer Academy, the charity support male adults with multiple and complex needs through educational programs.  I also do occasional work alongside National Mind as a Mind Quality Mark peer reviewer.

I believe it is important to have the voice of experts by experience, people that have previously accessed services, on a board of trustees. I am passionate about informing the development of our services, my experience and interests are in mental health, alcoholism, substance misuse, homelessness, neurodiversity , service user participation and engagement, service quality and service user experience.
